For Successful SureSmile Treatment, Follow These Easy Do’s and Don’ts

SureSmile clear aligners offer one of the easiest and most convenient ways to straighten teeth. However, in order for your treatment to be successful, you should follow some simple guidelines. What are the basic do’s and don’ts of clear aligners? This blog post contains some easy tips that will minimize your risk of making a mistake that will derail your treatment.

Do Clean Your Aligners Daily

Oral hygiene is of paramount importance for SureSmile users. Not only should you clean your teeth, but you should also clean your aligners. Gently clean them with mild, clear soap and warm (not hot!) water each night. You can also soak them in a cleansing solution to really make sure you get rid of any food particles and bacteria that might have collected on them throughout the day.

Do Not Eat While Wearing Your Aligners

It is fine to sip plain water while you are wearing SureSmile. However, you should not consume any other beverages or foods while your aligners are in your mouth. Doing so might cause your aligners to incur stains or become warped. If you diligently remove your aligners for every meal and snack, they will be much more likely to stay in good shape.

Do Rinse Your Aligners Often

In addition to cleaning your aligners each night, it is also wise to rinse them periodically throughout the day. Every time you eat, give your aligners a quick rinse before placing them back in your mouth. (It’s also a good idea to brush and floss your teeth after each meal.) This good habit will prevent unpleasant bacterial accumulation.

Do Not Forget to Wear Your Aligners

Admittedly, it can take a bit of time to get used to wearing your aligners. However, it is very important that you keep them in your mouth for as long as possible each day — aim to wear them 20 – 22 hours. This will give them the time they need to gently shift your teeth toward their proper positions.

Do Call Your Dentist if Something Goes Wrong

Despite your best efforts, there is still a chance that you might run into questions or problems throughout your time with SureSmile. When that happens, do not hesitate to call your dental team. The sooner you figure out the issue at hand, the less likely it is that your final results will be delayed.

Clear aligners could help you achieve a healthier smile! Apply the above do’s and don’ts so you can avoid problems during your teeth-straightening journey.
